Dr. Zahid Butt Appointed to Key National CMS Quality Measure Committees

We’re proud to share that Zahid W. Butt, MD, FACG, Medisolv Strategic Advisor & Board Member, has been reappointed as a voting member of the Pre-Rulemaking Measure Review (PRMR) Committee and appointed to the Measure Set Review (MSR) Committee for the next three years.

These influential committees, convened by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), review and recommend which quality, safety, and efficiency measures are used in national programs that impact:

  • Public performance reporting

  • Payment models for clinicians, hospitals, and post-acute care organizations

The work of the PRMR and MSR Committees shapes which measures will be introduced, maintained, or retired in CMS quality reporting programs. For hospitals, clinicians, and post-acute care providers, these decisions directly influence what data is collected and how performance is evaluated at the national level.

Dr. Butt, founder and former CEO of Medisolv, brings more than 30 years of experience in healthcare delivery and health information technology to this role. Before transitioning to his current position as Strategic Advisor & Board Member, he served as a Senior Attending Gastroenterologist and Director of Clinical Informatics at St. Agnes Healthcare, a member of Ascension Health. He currently chairs the HIMSS Quality and Safety Taskforce and is a past recipient of the HIMSS Changemaker in Policy Award.

Reflecting on the appointments, Dr. Butt said he is “truly honored and humbled” to continue this work. “I’m excited about the transition to digital quality measurement and look forward to working with fellow members to make healthcare measurement more meaningful and valuable to providers, payers, and the American public.”

Dave Lucey, CEO of Medisolv, shared: “Having Dr. Butt as part of our leadership is an extraordinary asset for Medisolv and the healthcare community at large. His unparalleled expertise as a thought leader, pioneer, and visionary in quality measurement, clinical informatics, and quality improvement — combined with his unique perspective as both a physician and technologist — positions him to help shape a future where quality data truly drives better patient outcomes.”
