Columbia, MD, November 10, 2022 — Medisolv announced the launch of a new Equitable Care Module within their ENCOR for Electronic Measures solution. This module will help hospitals meet new regulatory requirements for health equity measures in the CMS Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) and The Joint Commission’s ORYX® quality improvement initiative programs.
ENCOR, a 2015 ONC Cures Edition certified Health IT solution, can now stratify a hospital’s Electronic Clinical Quality Measure (eCQM) performance by race, gender, ethnicity, and payer. Furthermore, Medisolv developed custom specifications to address the new Social Drivers of Health (SDOH) measures. These SDOH measures are structural measures, but with the Medisolv specification, the measures are automatically calculated as an eCQM. The module will also allow hospitals to track the Hospital Commitment to Health Equity (HCHE) structural measure.
Commenting on the nation’s emphasis on health equity, Medisolv CEO Dr. Zahid Butt said, “the national conversations I am part of are laser-focused on promoting equitable care in every community. Having the ability to easily identify disparities will allow provider and payer organizations to take positive steps to address these gaps and provide equitable care for the patients they serve. With the launch of our new Equitable Care Module, Medisolv continues to innovate and deliver performance-driven quality results to help healthcare organizations nationwide improve patient care.”
In 2023, hospitals are required to submit the HCHE measure to the CMS IQR program. Hospitals may voluntarily submit the SDOH measures to the IQR program in 2023, but submission is required in 2024. The Joint Commission has made equity stratification a hallmark of their accreditation program. By stratifying hospital eCQM performance rates, hospitals can satisfy their health equity requirements for both governing bodies.
